Things got ugly at 17:09 on the third period of Saturday night’s game between the AHL’s Iowa Wild and Chicago Wolves. It even continued after the players left the ice.
Iowa’s Kurtis Gabriel delivered a cross-check with Chicago leading 4-1 late. Gabriel and Chicago’s Vince Dunn dropped the gloves. Nick Seeley and Scooter Vaughan (a perfect minor league baseball name if every there was one) also squared off, picking up 10-minute misconducts for a secondary altercation. Wolves defenseman James Wisniewski picked up a misconduct for being the third man in.
As the players left the ice, Gabriel and Dunn came back together in the tunnel.
The Chicago Wolves’ Twitter account got in on the action.
The now the battle has continued in the tunnel! There was talk and then Gabriel crossed over to get after Dunn…and Dunn made him pay!

The two may miss some time as a result. No word yet on any potential fines or suspensions forthcoming from the AHL.
Oh, did we mention that these two teams play each other again on Sunday?
