Nashville’s Cody McLeod will not have a hearing with the NHL’s Department of Player Safety for his hit on Sven Baertschi.
The two players collided away from the puck, with McLeod’s shoulder driving through Baertschi’s head.
While Player Safety called it an ‘accidental collision’, Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins wasn’t so sure.
“I think he knew he was there,” Desjardins said after the game.
Baertschi came back for one more 58-second shift later in the period before heading off to the locker room. He did not return to the game and is currently out with a concussion.
No penalty was called on the play by referees Tim Peel and TJ Luxmore.
