The Canadian Hockey League’s top prospects for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft will take the ice as Team Cherry and Team Orr battle tonight in Quebec City.  Joining them will be some of the QMJHL’s top officials.

Referees for the game are Olivier Gouin and Guillaume Labonté. Linesmen are Jesse Marquis and Nicolas Piché.

Gouin joined the QMJHL in 2012 as a linesman, switching to referee in 2013. He officiated the 2016 Memorial Cup, this year’s IIHF World Junior Championship, Div. I-A, and is on the short list under consideration for the 2017 IIHF World Championship.

Labonté is in his seventh season in the Q. He spent the first four as a linesman before donning the armbands in 2014.  Labonté and Gouin have both spent time refereeing in the AHL this season.

Marquis worked his first QMJHL game in 2015 and is in just his second season with the league. Marquis, along with referee Olivier Gouin, took part in the NHL’s Officiating Combine during the offseason prior to the start of the 2016-17 season.

Piché made his Q debut on the lines in 2012, having worked 202 playoff and regular season games since. He is also in contention to officiate the 2017 IIHF World Championship.

Congratulations to the officials on their selection to work the Top Prospects game!
