Linesman Jonny Murray had a scary moment in the faceoff circle during Wednesday’s World Cup of Hockey game between Russia and Canada.
The veteran official was caught by a high stick as he dropped the puck between Canada’s Sidney Crosby and Russia’s Vadim Shipachyov with 6:29 to go in the second period.
After winning the draw, Crosby appeared to recognize that the official was injured, holding his arm as play stopped. Murray was assisted off the ice and treated by the medical staff.
Crosby apparently felt bad about the play, sending Murray a more formal apology after the game
Sidney Crosby sent a signed stick down the hall to linesman Jonny Murray, who he inadvertently high-sticked off a faceoff during the game.
