It’s hard to defend when you don’t have your stick. New Jersey Devils center Sergey Kalinin was reminded of that fact during a game against the Minnesota Wild.
As Minnesota’s Thomas Vanek carried the puck out of the defensive zone, former Devil Zach Parise decided to give him a little more room for that breakout pass. Parise, cutting across the ice, forcefully lifted Kalinin’s stick, sending it flying.
The Wild weren’t able to capitalize on the advantage, though. Vanek carried the puck into the Devils zone offside.
New Jersey held on to win the game 2-1.
