New Jersey Devils winger Jordin Tootoo has been fined $2,217.74 for a dangerous trip on Predators defenseman Seth Jones. 

The play happened in the third period of Tuesday night’s game with Nashville leading the Devils 1-0. Tootoo received a minor penalty for tripping from referees Dave Jackson and Kevin Pollock. 

 

 

Tootoo’s fine of $2,217.74 is the maximum amount under the CBA based on a percentage of the player’s salary. 

This isn’t the first time Jordin Tootoo has crossed paths with the Department of Player Safety. He was suspended for two games in 2011 for charging goaltender Ryan Miller, and for five games in 2007 for a blindside punch to the face of Stephanie Robidas.
