Czech Referee Killed After Being Hit By Puck

Czech referee Pavel Lainka has died after being hit by a puck during a game. Lainka, 24, sustained a serious head injury when a slapshot hit him in the side of the head during an Under-16 game between Warrior Brno and Young Dragons Šumperk on August 25.  After spending two weeks in the hospital, Lainka succumbed to his injuries on September 10.  Po vážném zranění nás opustil kamarád a kolega Pavel Lainka. KHL Linesman Takes Out Player

Evgeny Rymarev never even saw him coming.  Of course, he wasn’t watching for the linesman. The Barys Astana winger carried the puck into the zone before being dropped along the boards by veteran linesman Evgeny Pronskikh.  Despite Rymarev’s stickhandling, he just couldn’t beat the zebra.    No call was made on their fellow official by referees Konstantin Olenin and Sergei Kulakov.  As Rymarev slid into the corner, he looked back, presumably to get the license plate of the bus that had just run him over.   As far as Rymarev’s night goes, it didn’t get any better. He finished the game...
