NWHL’s Riveters, Whale Combine for Line Brawl

In the third period of a 5-0 game, the New York Riveters decided to make a statement about the opposing Connecticut Whale running their goaltender.  Whale forward Danielle Ward collided with netminder Jenny Scrivens, sparking a scrum that saw both teams pile up along the boards.  No penalty was called on the initial collision between Ward and Scrivens.  The post-hit battle resulted in 17 minutes to Connecticut’s Michaela Long- a major and a game for charging along with a two-minute minor for roughing.  New York’s Ashley Johnston also picked up a matching minor for roughing.  No other penalties were handed...
