Lightning’s Bishop Throws Stick, Avoids Penalty Shot

Ben Bishop was having a rough night.  After three amazing games against the Canadiens in which he allowed just 4 goals, it was bound to happen.  And, boy, did it.   Bishop was off his game early and seemed to lose focus as the game went on.  He attempted a head-butt on Montreal’s Lars Eller.  Later in the game, he defended a scoring attempt by throwing his stick.  Bishop taking an interesting approach tonight pic.twitter.com/6p7e7W3spT — Stephanie (@myregularface) May 7, 2015 You can’t do that.  The NHL rulebook covers it in Rule 53.6: When any member of the defending...

Rangers’ Hagelin Gets Rare Playoff Penalty Shot

Midway through the third period of Wednesday night’s game between the New York Rangers and Washington Capitals came a rare playoff occurrence – a postseason penalty shot. New York winger Carl Hagelin was hooked by Washington defenseman Mike Green. Referee Chris Lee skated behind the net, immediately signaling for a penalty shot.  “We got caught a little flat-footed staring at the play,” said Capitals coach Barry Trotz. “Hagelin got through there and you’ve got to take that [penalty].” GIF: Hagelin gets penalty shot pic.twitter.com/gQq2pSBem5 — Stephanie (@myregularface) May 7, 2015 Hagelin moved in with speed, first deking to his...
