Vancouver forward Derek Dorsett took out referee Gord Dwyer late in Tuesday’s game between the Canucks and the New York Rangers.

Dwyer was not injured by the hit. He popped back up and rejoined the play.

You have to give credit to the official. With no way to avoid impact, he braced, absorbed it, and got right back up. He could’ve stood Dorsett up with a solid elbow like KHL linesman Dmitri Shishlo.

This is not Dorsett’s first run-in with a ref. He collided with referee Tim Peel when driving to the net against the Detroit Red Wings last December.
