Abuse of officials situations aren’t exclusive to North America. Over in the UK’s Elite League (EIHL), one player took out his frustrations on a referee and will miss two games as a result.

Belfast Giants forward Craig Peacock has been suspended for two games for abuse of officials.  Peacock was given a game misconduct after coming off the bench and hitting referee Stefan Hogarth with his stick.

After further review, the EIHL’s Department of Player Safety has upgraded the call to a match penalty, which includes an automatic one-game suspension.  The league has also added a second game to the suspension due to the severity of the incident.

Peacock will be eligible to return for the Giants’ game against the Fife Flyers on Saturday. Hope referee Dean Smith is ready.
