Edmonton’s Keith Aulie will be waiting by the phone tonight.  The Department of Player Safety would like to have a word with Aulie after his hit on Calgary Flames forward Matt Stajan. The hit took place at 19:05 of the first period of Wednesday night’s game.

Aulie was given a major penalty and a game misconduct on the play by referees Eric Furlatt and Francis Charron.

Stajan returned to the ice later in the game.

Interestingly, Aulie was recalled earlier this year to fill in when Andrew Ference was suspended for a check to the head.  That hit was on Vancouver’s Zack Kassian.

UPDATE: Aulie has been suspended 2 games for the hit.
