Referee Mike Leggo is a veteran official with over 1,000 games under his belt.  He’s been around long enough to get pretty comfortable in his job, which makes for some memorable moments.

Leggo famously advised Edmonton’s Shawn Horcoff after taking a penalty, “You can’t do that.”

Now, he’s clearly illustrating what the NHL’s Situation Room means by a ‘distinct kicking motion’ on this disallowed goal:

That no-goal from the Flames’ Johnny Gaudreau, had it counted, would have brought Calgary within a goal with just over three minutes to play in the third.  Calgary did manage to score in the final minute of play – a Hudler slap shot made it 3-2 – but it was too late for the Flames to complete the rally.
